The homepage frames an evening at the observatory as a mission, with Richard and the telescope at the centre.

The brief

What Gers Astronomie needed

Richard runs genuine observing and imaging nights from his own observatory in the Gers, and also builds astronomy and satellite software. The old site mixed the two and left visitors to work out how to book. Guests needed to see what an evening involves, what it costs and when the sky is worth booking, in English or French.

How we approached it

01

Turn the evening into a story.

A space-mission voice, from mission briefing to liftoff after dusk, gives a quiet countryside activity a sense of occasion. The two offers read as tickets with duration, group size and price up front.

02

Let the sky do the selling.

A tonight panel calculates astronomical dusk and moon phase for La Romieu and shows an Open-Meteo cloud forecast. A sky calendar highlights upcoming meteor showers and links each one to a prefilled booking request.

03

Keep it simple to run.

The site is a static Astro build on Cloudflare Pages, with a full French version and a booking form that sends requests to Richard by email. Existing app support, privacy and download pages are kept at their original addresses. We used AI tools to design and build it, and listed every new line of copy for Richard to confirm.

  • English and French versions
  • Tonight panel with dusk, moon and cloud forecast

Project status & imagery

Screens were captured from the public preview at gersastronomie.pages.dev. New copy is being checked with Richard before launch. Moon, dusk and cloud figures are calculated or forecast at page load and are advisory; these captures do not establish booking volumes or launch on the main domain.
