Rostering software for multi-site clinics that builds rosters legal by construction, scores fatigue on every shift and shares the hard shifts fairly. Product, optimiser, brand and website.
The website leads with the idea behind the product: a roster decides who gets tired.
The brief
What FairShift needed
In a multi-site clinic, one manager can spend most of a working day each week holding the roster together: award rules, rest breaks, skill mix at each hospital, leave and preferences, then every sick call and swap. The cost of a bad roster lands on staff as fatigue and on the business as breaches found on payroll day.
How we approached it
01
Make the rules impossible to break.
Award and NES limits, minimum rest, recovery after night runs and contract hours are hard constraints. A shared rules engine checks every assignment live on the board, and the optimiser never proposes a roster that breaks one.
02
Show the working.
Auto-roster solves cover, fatigue and preferences in a fixed order, then shows a preview against the current roster: cover filled, rule breaks, nights and weekends per person, and any gaps it could not fill. Nothing is saved until the manager accepts.
03
Give staff a voice.
Staff join with a workplace code and add availability from their phone. Leave, swaps, open shifts and find-cover sit alongside push notifications and private calendar feeds. We designed and built the product with AI tools, owning the rules, decisions and checking.

Project status & imagery
The website is public and the product is in invite-only early access. Desktop screens were captured from a local build connected to a development database seeded with a synthetic two-hospital vet group. Phone screens show a test staff account in a test workplace. None of the people or rosters are real. Award values follow the Animal Care and Veterinary Services Award 2020 and are being confirmed before production use. These captures do not establish customer numbers or time saved.
